Whether you’re a first time holiday-maker or an experienced jet-setter, a trip away is often a thing of dreams – an opportunity to really relax and unwind. However, this can easily switch to a nightmare with one small slip up – you’ve forgotten your swim suit!

Here at Triparison, we want you to have the best break possible, so we have put together this essential packing list, to make your holiday experience just that little bit easier.

Essentials

Before even thinking about packing, you may want to consider whether you have the right baggage for your trip. Rolling luggage not quite right for the hiking you have planned? Consider a backpack! Alternatively, a duffle bag may be more suited for a road trip.

Your essential items are the things that are necessary for your trip – you may experience some difficulty if they are forgotten!

  • Passport
  • Driver’s license/alternative ID
  • Travel insurance documentation
  • Bank cards and foreign currency
  • Accommodation confirmation
  • Mobile phone and charger
  • Plug socket adaptor
  • Emergency contact information
  • Flight details and boarding passes
  • Glasses

What to put in hand luggage

With the journey often taking up a large chunk of a trip, these are the items you will want handy to keep yourself entertained and fresh.

Remember, these items will be going though airport security, so make sure your electrics can be easily accessed to put into your tray. You may also want to consider pre-packing your liquids in a transparent plastic bag.

  • Tablet
  • Books or eBooks
  • Music devices
  • Headphones
  • Travel blanket/pillow
  • Eye mask/ear plugs
  • Moisturiser
  • Lip balm
  • Wet wipes
  • Deodorant
  • Toothbrush and toothpaste
  • Food/snacks
  • Empty water bottle to refill after security
  • Sunglasses
  • A change of clothes (in case of lost luggage)
  • Passport
  • Visas
  • House/car keys

Electronics

In addition to the electronics kept in your hand luggage to entertain you during your journey, packing some of the following could lead to an even better holiday experience!

  • Laptop
  • Voltage adaptor
  • Camera
  • Lenses
  • Film/memory card
  • Spare batteries  for your electronic devices
  • Tripod
  • GoPro
  • Drone

Clothing

We would suggest packing your clothes in your main luggage before anything else, as your clothes will take up the majority of the room. Whilst you want to ensure that you have enough clothes to last the whole of your holiday, you don’t want to over-pack. Consider packing items that you can wear more than once or mix and match.

Key tip: Wear your heaviest items on the journey to save space and weight in your case!

Toiletries

The key with toiletries, is to not pack anything you could buy once you have arrived at your destination. This will create more space and weight to be used inside your luggage. However, we understand the need for your regular and necessary toiletry items, to help you look and feel good during your time away!

  • Toothbrush and toothpaste
  • Floss
  • Deodorant
  • Shower gel
  • Shampoo and conditioner
  • Hair brush
  • Facial/makeup wipes
  • Moisturiser
  • Sun cream
  • After-sun
  • Contact lenses and solution
  • Shaving supplies
  • Make up
  • Birth control

It has taken us years to become packing pro’s. Before compiling this list we would often jot down things to remember on a loose piece of paper – which inevitably always got lost! Next time you go away, why not print out this list and tick everything off one by one?

We hope these tips have made the experience of packing even the tiniest bit easier. However, if there’s anything you think we’ve forgotten, let us know via Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or send your email suggestions to info@triparison.com!
